Reunion 2021

Announcement about Reunion 2021 from Megan Morey, Williams Vice President for College Relations:

Given the continuing challenges posed by Covid-19, I am saddened to share that Williams will not hold Reunion Weekend on campus in June 2021.

This news likely does not come as a surprise considering the ongoing health and safety concerns surrounding group gatherings and the remarkable planning required for such an event even without the public health complications. Still, I recognize how disappointing this news is for those eager to reconnect in Williamstown. I, along with all my Williams colleagues, will dearly miss the annual boost of joy, energy, and enthusiasm alumni bring to campus.

In the coming months, college staff and class leaders for Reunion 2021 classes will develop alternative plans to bring you back together with classmates in meaningful ways virtually in June. We look forward to those events, which will complement the wonderful year-long celebration of the Bicentennial of the Society of Alumni that’s just begun. Please visit alumni.williams.edu/200 to learn more about the Bicentennial.

President Mandel also offers the following message:

Covid-19 has disrupted nearly every aspect of our lives, and now it’s forced us to once again cancel one of the most important on-campus gatherings of the year in Reunion. We’re proud that the campus reopened successfully to students in the fall, and we are eager to welcome students back to campus in February. This reopening would not have been possible without alumni support. Thank you for all you continue to do for Williams, for each other, and for your communities as we move through this most difficult moment. Stay safe, and I look forward to being together with you again soon.

On behalf of all of us in Williamstown, take care, and thank you for your continued commitment to the Williams community.

Sincerely,

Megan Morey
Vice President for College Relations

FAQs

Why is on-campus Reunion 2021 cancelled?

Due to the ongoing health and safety concerns posed by Covid-19 and the remarkable planning required for an on-campus Reunion, an on-campus gathering is cancelled for June 2021. For more information about the College's response to Covid-19 visit: http://www.williams.edu/coronavirus/

Will there be virtual Reunion events in June?

Please visit the Bicentennial of the Society of Alumni site and Virtual Ephs for a calendar of digital programs and engagement opportunities offered for alumni and friends throughout 2021. In addition, class-specific programs will be shared over class listserves.

Has a plan been developed for the classes impacted by cancelled in person reunions to have gatherings when the conditions are safe?

The college will assess opportunities to bring affected classes back to campus to mark their reunions once the conditions on campus and in the world allow for large-scale gatherings. Our hope is to provide opportunities for alumni to return to campus, although these gatherings will look and feel different from a traditional June Reunion. We appreciate everyone's patience as we wait to assess the safest opportunities to bring alumni back to campus.

How will we learn about the College's plans?

We will reach out to impacted classes via class listservs and hardcopy mailings as plans develop. Please be sure your contact information is up-to-date in the Alumni Directory.
