Fellow Alumni and Parents,
The Society of Alumni would like to introduce you to a great online resource for Ephs called Switchboard. It’s a vibrant, virtual community where members of the Williams family can post “asks” and “offers” to one another. The platform is simple to use and makes connecting seamless: you can even log in with your LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, or Google credentials.
As a new class of Ephs joins the ranks of alumni, please consider joining Switchboard and writing a post welcoming the Class of 2016 to the family. Offer to grab coffee and talk about the field they’re entering, the city you now share, or common interests. Also, remember the hundreds of current students starting internships around the country who may be looking for advice on their temporary cities. You’re a wealth of knowledge and experience for other Ephs, and we hope this platform helps strengthen those connections.
What can you post about? Anything! Some potential topics include:
- Career Advice: offer an informational interview; industry specific insight – meet for coffee, phone call, or at office; practice interviews; graduate school advice; willingness to review a resume, cover letter; complimentary career coaching or mentoring; job shadowing opportunities
- Your City: offer to connect with Ephs new to your city and adjusting to post-grad life – topics can include housing, work, cultural questions
- Shared Interests: connect with others in your field; share a cause, event, or project
