What Really Matters

by Kate Leonard Hood '03

We had a terrible game. Horrible. Nobody reached their potential, we failed all of our goals, everyone was bad, we were slow, clumsy, embarrassingly off. Naturally, we expected the next day's practice to be really difficult, seeing how we clearly needed to practice our skills and plays, get in shape, work together better, get a clue...

But, when we got to the field house, there was a surprise waiting for us from coach Alix Barrale ’93: "Scavenger Hunt. See you after the last clue. Don't forget the coach snacks."

This was such a lesson in what really matters, and it is such an Eph story to me.
