As an attorney, Chris specializes in the practice of Native American law representing tribes and organizations on federal public policy, elections, gaming, health care, and more. For more than 30 years, his work has helped promote and defend sovereign rights, expand opportunities, and improve the lives of American Indians and Alaska Natives. Chris is the first Native American (Navajo) to be elected to the Auburn City Council; he is also a former Chairman of the Washington State Gambling Commission. Prior to that, Chris was appointed by President Bill Clinton as the first-ever Director of Indian Affairs for the U.S. Department of Energy.
