Class President

The Class President is the leader of the Class Leadership and the primary point person for the Office of Alumni Relations on matters related to your class. Ultimately, the Class President is a cheerleader and champion of the class, building class enthusiasm and unity in whatever way suits his/her personality.

During senior year, the Class President works closely with the Office of Alumni Relations to plan the Senior Night Trivia and the Senior Welcome on behalf of the Society of Alumni. Our office looks to the Class President and Class VP to build interest in these events among classmates and encourage participation. The Class President is in charge of organizing monthly meetings among all Class Leadership to stay abreast of the Event Coordinators’ efforts as related to Senior Week, etc.

During the five years following graduation, the Office of Alumni Relations looks to the Class President to communicate messages pertinent to the class via the class listserve, facebook, or letters. The Class President supports and is involved in the 5 year reunion planning efforts. The Class President facilitates officer succession at the completion of the 5 year reunion cycle to introduce a new slate of class leadership.

This role requires an interest in staying connected to all classmates, enthusiasm, class and school spirit, and strong communication skills.

Class Vice-President

The Vice-President is the primary support person for the Class President.

During senior year, the Class VP works closely with the Office of Alumni Relations to plan the Senior Night Trivia and the Senior Welcome on behalf of the Society of Alumni. Our office looks to the Class President and Class VP to build interest in these events among classmates and encourage participation.

During the five years following graduation, the Class VP is available to support the work of the Class President and Event Coordinators as related to reunions and other class matters. The VP also heads efforts to keep current email address and mailing address information on file for classmates with support and guidance from the Office of Alumni Relations.

This role requires an interest in staying connected to all classmates, enthusiasm, class and school spirit, and strong communication skills.

Class Secretary

The Class Secretary has one of the most important and labor intensive responsibilities of all the Class Leadership. The Class Secretary is responsible for collecting and compiling class notes three times a year for the Williams Alumni Review during the five years following graduation. This is an essential piece of keeping classes connected to one another outside the Purple Bubble.  The Class Secretary is the class’s most visible representative in your years as alumni.

Given the labor-intensive nature of this position as an alum, the Class Secretary does not have to work directly with any particular office during senior year. The Class Secretary, however, works with the Class Leadership as a group to help promote and participate in all events related to the class.

This role requires an interest in staying connected to all classmates, a love of writing and communicating about and with classmates, organization and the ability to adhere to deadlines.

Class Treasurer

The Class Treasurer has access to the class bank account, which the college holds on behalf of the class, and is primarily responsible for budgeting these finances for class events as seniors and alumni.

During senior year, the Class Treasurer works closely with the Office of Campus Life and the Class Event Coordinators to plan the budget and manage the money for the three big senior events, First Chance, Hundred Days, and Senior Week.

During the first five years as alumni, the Class Treasurer monitors the class account and works with the Class Event Coordinators on the budget for the Zero Year Reunion and 5 Year Reunion. This includes setting registration fees, and sending invoices to the Office of Alumni Relations for processing and payment on behalf of all vendors involved with the execution of these events.

This role requires an interest in working with money and budgets, organization in keeping track of all receipts, invoices and expenses as related to all class events, strong communication skills, and attention to detail.

Co-Class Event Coordinators

The Co-Class Event Coordinators are responsible for leading the planning and execution of events on behalf of the class. Ideally two classmates serve in this role.

During senior year, this means working closely with the Office of Campus life to plan First Chance, Hundred Days, and Senior Week.

During the first five years as alumni, this means working closely with the Office of Alumni Relations to plan the Zero Year Reunion at Homecoming in the month’s following graduation. It also requires serving as the Reunion Chairs to plan and organize the 5 Year Reunion. The Co-Class Event Coordinators are the leaders of these efforts but should look to fellow Class Leadership and other classmates to assist in the execution and organization of all events so that they do not feel burdened or overwhelmed by event planning.

This role requires attention to detail, strong communication skills, enthusiasm, and an interest in thinking broadly and inclusively to plan events that appeal widely to the class.

Co-Head Agents

The Co-Head Agent is responsible for the successful implementation of the annual class fund-raising campaign for the Alumni Fund. Each Head Agent is an advocate for Williams and the Alumni Fund.  She or he serves as an informed ambassador to other members of the class about Williams happenings and can articulate to other classmates the reasons why consistent, annual unrestricted giving is so important to Williams. Ideally two classmates serve in this role.

During senior year, the Co-Head Agent works closely with the Alumni Fund office to organize the Senior gift (participation and dollars to be raised for the Alumni Fund) and recruit a team of Associate Agents large enough to ensure that all members of his or her class are invited personally to participate by assigning each class member to an Associate Agent.

During the five years following graduation, the Alumni Fund office looks to the Co-Head Agent to set class goals for participation and dollars to be raised in each Fund year and the overall strategy for achieving these goals in addition to managing the Class Agent team.  Maintain frequent communication with Alumni Fund staff during the course of each annual campaign (Class Agent solicitation period is October 1 – February 28).  She or he is responsible for writing at least three class solicitation emails/letters during the annual campaign and a Thank You email/postcard/letter when the campaign ends.

This role requires an interest in staying connected to all classmates and communicating about and with classmates about the importance of giving back to Williams along with strong organizational skills and the ability to adhere to deadlines.
